Setting the course for sustainable marine tech
Claudia Pala and her team at CRAS turned to goodbase to support a fast, focused strategic sprint for an early-stage marine technology product: ABBISTAS. With a clear goal to assess the market potential and define a go-to-market path for intelligent water monitoring solutions, CRAS needed solid insight.
And they needed it fast.
So, we structured our work into four rapid phases:
a high-level market overview,
competitor mapping,
survey design,
and qualitative analysis.
We built a targeted survey to capture insights from aquaculture operators across Italy. From monitoring gaps to technology awareness, the responses revealed where innovation could genuinely make a true difference in the market. We also uncovered clear needs around modular tools, compliance support, and better access to real-time environmental data.
The outcome? A clear, well-supported foundation for CRAS to guide the future development of their ABBISTAS solution. Our work helped shift the conversation from assumptions to evidence, giving their team the clarity to move forward with confidence and strategic direction.
This momentum coincides with an important moment of recognition. Claudia Pala was awarded the Premio Salvini for her contribution to bringing scientific research and innovation to Sardinia. At the same time, ABBISTAS was recognized as an entrepreneurial idea by the National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC), in collaboration with Deloitte and Luiss Business School — a strong validation of its potential at the intersection of technology, biodiversity, and sustainable innovation.
Together, these achievements underscore CRAS’s commitment to responsible research and to creating meaningful environmental impact through applied innovation.
